Eugene Chamber Economic Forecast - 2013

The annual Economic Forecast event features expert speakers that provide local and regional economic predictions for the coming year. This year's event features:
- Higher Education Driving Regional Economic Development - University of Oregon President Michael Gottfredson and Oregon State University President Dr. Edward Ray will co-keynote Economic Forecast 2013 outlining the economic development roles of their respective institutions including plans for a regional business accelerator.
- Assessing Eugene’s Business Climate - The strength of a community’s business climate is directly connected to local business success and effective economic development efforts. The Eugene Area Chamber, in partnership with the Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) will unveil the results of the first comprehensive analysis of our local business climate in over a decade.
- The Register-Guard Panel of Economists - Oregon's leading economists analyze trends and help anticipate the economic year ahead in a fast paced, interactive, entertaining panel presentation featuring: Bill Conerly, Conerly Consulting; Tom Potiowsky, Former State Economist and Professor of Economics at Portland State University; Ed Whitelaw, Founder and President of ECONorthwest/Professor of Economics, University of Oregon; Brian Rooney, Regional Economist at the Oregon Employment Department; and John Mitchell, M & H Economic Consultants.

The Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) is Oregon's largest customer-owned utility. Founded in 1911 and chartered by the city of Eugene as a municipal utility with a separate elected board, EWEB provides electricity and water to more than 86,000 homes, businesses, schools and other customers. The utility also offers a variety of energy management services designed to encourage the efficient use of electricity in commercial buildings and industrial facilities to help customers reduce energy waste and control operating costs.
